Trainers' Creativity Day Camp
Go on a learning adventure and be a trail-blazing trainer ...

You can attend FREE with STAR12 membership - Get more info.

Program Description:

Dear Fellow Trainer,

Ever feel like you’re playing tug-of-war with your learning participants? Like you’re running an obstacle course with no end in sight? It’s time to restock your bag of training tricks.

The Trainers’ Creativity Day Camp is headed your way. It’s a two-day event full of creative energy ... eye-opening discussions ... and down-to-earth training talk that will recharge and revitalize you.

Day One of this amazing adventure is a conference with 10 one-hour breakout sessions that cover the problems every trainer faces from A to Z. You pick which sessions you want to attend, so your time isn’t wasted hearing information that you don’t need.

Plus, you’ll attend our Opening Session that brings you up-to-speed with the latest innovations in training techniques and technology. And you won’t want to miss the optional lunchtime session Training Challenges: True Scary Stories ’Round the Campfire that so many “campers” swear is the highlight of the day. So just on the first day alone, you’re looking at a full day of cutting-edge information, shop talk, down-n’-dirty survival tips and more!

You’ll learn proven solutions to common ... and NOT-so-common ... challenges like how to grab your learners’ attention from the opening moment and hold it ... how to give your presentations lasting power long after the session ends ... and how to use the tools at your disposal (even if it’s just a marker and an easel pad) to add life to your training. You’ll give your participants a wake-up call louder than a bugle at dawn.

And best of all, this is a perfect opportunity for you to get around a bunch of other wildly creative professional trainers, swap war stories, shake off the doldrums that every trainer falls into from time to time, and recharge your batteries. By the end of this conference, you’ll be one happy camper.

So if you’re fishing for innovative ideas that will capture the hearts and minds of your audience, sign up now for this fantastic learning experience with your fellow campers and let your creativity run wild!

At the end of this innovative two-day training experience you’ll have so many fresh new ideas rolling around inside your head you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store, eager to try it all.

Regards,

Susan Enyeart
Manager of Curriculum

Opening Session:

Evolutions and Revolutions in Training
The hardest thing to do when you’re a busy training professional is to keep up with all the changes that take place in the training industry. Hey, we feel your pain, so we’ve done all the research for you. Hear the latest and greatest evolutions in training technology and presentation skills from some of the top trainers in the field. Most of our campers feel that this is worth every penny of the conference fee all by itself!

Discover how you can blend the best of the new with the most effective of your old techniques to create a more dynamic and powerful personal training style. And, in these days of having to do more training with less budget-room, this session is a must-see for every trainer worth his or her salt. Make sure you get to the conference early so you don’t miss a minute of this exciting peek into the future of training. Your “camp counselors” are looking forward to starting your day off on the right note!

Track 1: Trail-Blazing Presentation Skills

Session 1A: Make ’Em Say, “Wow!” Presentation Skills
See the latest and greatest facilitation techniques in action during this “How-To Overview” for newbies — or anyone else eager to fine-tune their presentation skills. Discover innovative ways to get your learners turned on and tuned in, as well as how to create a learner-friendly atmosphere. Get dozens of tips for making your sessions more stimulating and exciting, plus new ideas for creative resources sure to keep your training fresh and on-target.

Session 1B: Get ’Em Smiling – Leave ’Em Cheering: Openers and Closers
Want to give your learners a heads-up so that your sessions aren’t the same-old, same-old? Attend this high-energy session for creative ideas for new ice-breakers and closing activities that you’ll be eager to start using right away. Find out how to set up a motivated learning environment — and send them out on a high note, too. These inspired openers and closers are so much fun that you’ll never again worry about your participants wandering in late or sneaking out early!

Session 1C: Sound Off! Techniques to Get ’Em Talking
If trying to get your learners involved in training often makes you feel like you’re playing tug of war, this insightful session is for you! You’ll learn savvy facilitation skills guaranteed to get people involved in the process and to accelerate learning. Get strategies for thinking on your feet and matching your presentation style with your learners. Gain effective probing question techniques that encourage enlightened discussion — even from the most reluctant learners in your group.

Session 1D: Putting Power in Your Point: Incorporating Multimedia With Your Message
Your audience sees astounding special effects with a click of the TV remote, so how can your flip chart compete? Discover how to get through to learners who’ve seen-it-all and heard-it-all by putting multimedia into your message. Find out how easy it can be to dazzle your learners with color that grabs their attention. We’ll show you how to ignite their senses — and significantly improve retention — with animation, sounds and 3-D images with ideas from the latest software.

Session 1E: How to Get Pumped Up When You’re Tapped Out
No nap time for you, camper! Get yourself back up and running with warm-up exercises for voice and breathing that are sure to put the smile back in your style. We’ll show you high-energy methods that will bounce you back from even the toughest session for those days when you’ve gotta keep on keeping on. Learn tricks for bringing yourself back from the edge by tapping into your inner mental resources for an extra boost of energy that’s downright infectious to audiences.

Track 2: Amazing Training Solutions

Session 2A: Motivating Adult Learners to Follow the Leader
Motivating adult learners is one tough challenge. That’s why this session focuses on the how-to’s of targeting different types of learners so you can match your training style to their needs. We’ll also cover guerilla motivation techniques for training problem participants like know-it-alls, snipers and hostages. Learn expert tricks for “reading” the room to know in a glance who’s tuned in and who’s daydreaming. Find out how to generate the electricity to turn on those light bulbs!

Session 2B: How To Turn Crabby Campers Into Happy Scouts
It’s sometimes a trainer’s greatest nightmare but almost always the greatest challenge: how to turn around negative attitudes in your audience. Whether you’re introducing unwelcome changes in processes or technology, or suddenly find yourself in front of a group of people who have only one thing on their mind ... “My boss made me come,” you’ll discover simple — but incredibly effective — techniques for turning even the most unwilling learner into a highly-motivated one.

Session 2C: Games to Lighten Up Your Rainy Training Days
Happy campers who’re having fun are more involved in their training – they absorb more information and retain more of what they’ve learned. That’s why this session is a Lecture-Free Zone, packed with new learning games and activities that you can easily adapt to match a wide variety of training objectives. Find out the secret to staying in control during group activities, as well as how to avoid the most common mistakes trainers make in the game-playing process.

Session 2D: How To Develop Curriculum On The Fly (Without A Swatter)
Just like at camp, when your audience is allergic to chocolate, you can’t give ’em S’mores, can you? Nope, you improvise! If you’ve ever had to change the content of your course at the last second (which should be pretty much everyone reading this brochure!) and make it flow smoothly into the program that’s left over, this session is for you. We’ll show you the shortcuts that allow you to remain cool, calm and collected when you’re presented with a mountain of information that needs to be whittled down to a more manageable size with all the pertinent learning points developed in a clear and precise manner — YESTERDAY!

Session 2E: Teaching Soft Skills To Hardened Campers
Some training topics are as old as the hills, but like campfire chili, they’re as hot as ever! This session brings a fresh approach to old chestnuts like leadership training, communication skills, performance evaluation techniques and more. Learn how to better adapt these so-called “soft skills” to today’s jaded workers who feel like they’ve “been there and done that!” Create unique and dynamic training presentations out of generic material that most learners have heard for years. Everything old is new again with the strategies you’ll learn at this workshop!
