It’s a hard job, but somebody has to do it
It’s upsetting; it’s nerve-racking; it can be complicated … and nobody likes to do it. In fact as a manager, supervisor, HR professional, business owner, or anyone responsible for terminating an employee, it’s probably the least favorite part of your job. And no matter how many times you’ve done it before, you never quite get used to the process or the impact it can have on all parties involved.
At the same time, it’s a fact of life in the business world that’s more prevalent today than ever before. And whatever your circumstances — from unfortunate layoffs for financial reasons to removing rogue employees — terminations are a necessary part of your duties.
